Deborah Altman is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor who specializes in the following:
- Life Transitions
- Eating Disorders
- Work-Related Issues
- Women’s Mental Health
- Chronic Health Conditions
- Children/Adolescents (academic, social, and emotional)
Deborah is committed to empowering and motivating clients while displaying compassion and authenticity. Her approach varies, but she has strived to be direct with clients when warranted, while still displaying empathy. She realizes that the idea of counseling can seem overwhelming, but believes it is actually a safe opportunity for personal growth. Together, she works with her clients on whatever issues they are facing and helps her clients come to terms with them. As a therapist, she assists her clients in gaining insight on who they are, what they need, and how to get there. She views each client as an individual with a different past, present, and unique goals for the future. She enjoys working collaboratively with clients to develop specialized treatment plans to help achieve their goals.
When working with children and adolescents, she believes their behaviors are usually accurate representations of their inner thoughts. She has a vast experience with working with children and adolescents who are experiencing behavioral and mental health issues. She is a strong advocate for both children and adolescents along with their families.
Many people would like to solve their problems without depending on someone else. This is the human need for independence. However, there are times you may not be able to do it alone. Everyone experiences life stresses, and many people report that therapy has been highly effective for them and has changed their way of thinking about not just themselves, but also their thoughts on others and the world.
Deborah believes that her clients hold the keys to their own healing and understanding, and she works as a dedicated guide and mirror as her clients embark on their journeys of healing and growth. Any of her former or present clients will tell you that she sincerely wants the best for her clients, and will work with you as a team to help get you there.
